JP Geronimo
JP Geronimo is also known as DJ Nimo. His older brother named him after the 4 last letters of their last name Gero-Nimo. Aside from music, He enjoys working on cars, a die-heart Lakers fan, regularly plays basketball, and enjoys singing and playing the guitar. He came from a family line of musicians. His father was a guitarist for various wedding bands. As a kid, He would assist and learn the different styles of music. Form the likes of smooth jazz, rock & roll, funk, disco, Latin rock, salsa, cha-cha, country, and classic rock. He was also exposed to the 80s and early 90s from his older brother who was also a DJ. From the likes of electric funk, freestyle, new wave, new jack swing, and old school Hip-Hop. This led him to enjoy a wide range of music genres. He regularly plays top 40, dance pop, house, reggaeton, cumbia, salsa, rock en espanol, reggae, country, hawaiian reggae, hip-hop, and R&B.
In 1997, At the age of 13, his older brother who was also a DJ introduced him to the art form of djing. It took him about 6 months to save up $300 worth of lunch money to buy his first Dj starter Kit from a local pawn shop. Once he held his first belt driven turntables, He was hooked and kept practicing for about 3-4 hours a day.
As a DJ, He accomplished several things. At the age of 14, he made it to the top 8 Dj's at Astro Records Dj Battle hosted and judge by 93.5 K-Day Radio Station. He won 1st Place at L.A. Music Connection DJ Battle sponsored by Pepsi. He won 1st Place DJ Battle hosted and judged by 92.3 Radio Station. He was featured on Insider magazine. His scratching skill was featured on a T.V. Show called SpyTV. He was a regular Dj at Club Mayan and Club Arena during his earlier years.
For the past 10 years, He concentrated more on weddings, birthdays, and corporate events. He caters to all types of cultures and ethnicities. His done many blended weddings. He truly enjoys seeing two different cultures uniting, having fun, and becoming one. He surprises most of his clients because he knows how to get all types of crowds to dance and have fun all night. He is really gifted in reading the crowd and knowing what songs to play at the right moments.
